Project: (my soon to be) SpOoKy, Hanging Tree

I am sure you've all heard/read this before. For those of you who may not know... I have a serious fascination with trees.
Can we say fetish??? Sort of, although it's more of an obsession, fixation, a passion... you get the idea.

Mostly, I seem to collect feather trees and I have lost count of how many I own. I also made a few black, faux feather trees this year from scratch - but you'd know that if you read my blog.

Anyhow, I am now in the midst of making a (soon to be) SpOoKy, hanging tree. The subsequent making of this tree was inspired in part by a future event, umm... no I don't see into the future, but I do plan ahead.

The other source inspiration for this tree is the simple fact that I do tend to make a lot of Halloween ornaments throughout the year. I also tend to spend far too many hours using Photoshop to wipe out the backgrounds of the majority of my pictures.

Sure my photos may look pretty good, but I find I spend about 6 hours (per set of listings) between the picture taking, editing, uploading to Photobucket, pasting html code, testing the code and then uploading an auction template to eBay to be too much time wasted... I'd rather be sculpting!!! Honestly, I would!

Pictured above is the start of my time saving tree. This large tree, once it's completed will become the backdrop for every Halloween themed ornament or hanging candy container I make this year and next.

The branches are not yet attached, so it looks a bit odd. The tree base/trunk is still drying. (I started making the tree yesterday afternoon.) It does not look especially SpOoKy either... that's because it does not have it's facial features hollowed out and sculpted. It will have paper inserts for the eyes and mouth, a tree branch for it's nose. The tree is/will be hollow and I will light this baby up... provided I can get the branches to attach/adhere properly to the trunk... I don't think it'll be an issue.

I hope you'll stay tuned as I continue to make progress on my SpOoKy, hanging tree. ~ Lori

Paper Lanterns... fun little treats for your Halloween tree

A HUGE thank you to Allison who bought several sets of my Halloween paper lanterns and generously sent me a few pics of them on her tree, both lit and unlit.

I also spy a few of my other papier mache ornaments she purchased this year too.

Oh and she also found some really awesome tealights that turn off when you blow on them! How cool is that?? Pretty darn cool, hope I can find them here too. ~ Lori

Tea, sad sacks and a nice large Jack!

After a day wrought with very bad weather and a power outage I managed to get a few new items scheduled to start on eBay at 9:00 pm EST tonight.

A couple of the pieces being listed this evening are currently featured in The Fall issue of Celebrate365.
One of them is the large Jack O' Lantern, (Great for lighting and will hold a ton of candy) the second is a vintage style Halloween teapot (Lots of fun! - It can be illuminated and can hold candy too) ~ The Jack is pictured below.

The newest series of papier mache figures I have been working on, and that will debut tonight are called "Sad Sacks". The premise behind them ~ It seems all of these poor little waifs have dressed up for All Hollow's Eve, but have somehow missed it! ~ A sneak peek of one (a black pumpkin) is pictured below.

That's all for now, hope you have a great week! ~ Lori
